Review: 52 Reasons to Hate My Father by Jessica Brody

So it's been a while, like 7 months since I last read 52 Reasons to Hate My Father, but it's all good because I still remember it quite well. To begin with, this book is probably one of the funniest books you will read. I love contemps and I love getting the opportunity to laugh, and 52 Reasons offers both!

The Novel follows Lexi Larrabee a multibillionaire heiress who basically has the world moving whichever way she wants. But when her dad imposes a restriction of Lexi receiving her trust fun, she needs to go through 52 jobs through the year so she learns the value of money. Let's just say, Lexi is in for quite a ride!

Brody is a fantastic writer and so far I have never been disappointed by her style, and 52 Reasons to Hate My Father is no different. Lexi is probably one of the best developed characters I have ever met/ read about. She has the obvious heiress personality one would think, but internally she deals with so much conflict and emotions that there is possibly no way you can like her after finishing the novel. Slowly you realize she is like you or me and not that stereotype we once associated her with, and though she is "loaded" you are still able to relate and grow with her as the novel progresses.

Though Lexi does grow throughout the novel, it does take her a while. I love reading about her earlier jobs and her experiences doing jobs that most high schoolers or common people would do. So yea, it is kinda like torture but I mean, come on, reading about an heiress mop floors or work at a fast food chain is hilarious! With the humor I loved watching Lexi's personal growth. I am by far no heiress, but I am fortunate for the fact that I have been given all the things I have needed in life thus far; So like Lexi, I have a father who is actually really similar to Lexi's father. The meaning of the dollar, and the necessity to learn how to spend and earn wisely was taught to me at a very young age as was Lexi when she desired her inheritance. Yea, I was able to relate to Lexi, I have parents who care about my well being, who want to educate me and make sure I am set for the future. Parents who want me to work hard and be dedicated.

As wonderful Lexi is, there are a bunch of other characters that you will love; the minor characters help build the story and make Lexi's life all the more entertaining. Each job with each character and each back story built up to the wonderful pages of what is now 52 Reasons to Hate My Father. Brody did a great job with the writing and humor, and I seriously wish we got more of Lexi's jobs even though it's practically impossible when writing a book...unless you want it to be almost two thousand pages O.o

It's a great read, fun, sweet, hilarious, and well you may learn a few great lessons for the long run as well! I would definitely pick up 52 Reasons to Hate My Father if you are looking for something fresh, relaxing, and entertaining!
