It's Finally Friday: Interview with Mercy Amare

Aloha lovelies!
It's finally Friday, and I'm back with another edition of this meme! This week we have Mercy Amare, author of her recent novel You Got Me, but also author of the Rockstar series and the Kihanna saga . I have yet to read Amare's novels, but by overall oppinions and reviews I have seen around I have a hunch that You Got Me will definitely be my cup of tea. This is definitely a book for fans who love contemporary romances and insta-love type books, or someone who just wants to try something new :)  And now...the interview!
What is your favorite book of all time?
There are way too many to choose one. I have a thing for books in a series. My favorite include The Lux Series by Jennifer Armentrout, The Keatyn Chronicles by Jillian Dodd, and The Archers of Avalon Series by Chelsea Fine.
What was your inspiration to write your book?

All my inspiration comes from life. The Rock Star Trilogy was inspired by music. (I play guitar, bass, and drums). A lot of the books was based on person experience. Minus the “rock star” part. I definitely wasn’t a rock star. But I did go on tour. I play with a band. I got paid to record for a studio. Fun times! And The Kihanna Saga I’ve been plotting since April of 2012.
What is one book you wish, you had written?
Harry Potter. I wish I could create a world like HP. That would be crazy awesome.
Why did you start writing books for young adults? And why this genre?
I’ve ALWAYS had a heart for young adult. Even now, when I read, 98% of the time it’s a young adult book. I read everything from contemporary to paranormal to Si-Fi and more. I chose to write contemporary because I wanted to write about real life. So many YA books aren’t realistic. They find true love in their first BF. Not real. I wanted to be real. But of course, still have a HEA ;) And that’s what I give people with my books. Real.
What makes your book so different from all the books out there?
I think my writing style. People always tell me that they feel like you’ve watched a television show after they finish my book. And I love that.
Are you currently working on anything new? If so can we get a clue on what it is ;D?
I am working on something new. I can’t give you too much details, but think EARLY Kardashian sisters (like season 1 & 2 early) meets Gossip Girl.
Who was your favorite character in the whole story? And why?
My favorite character to write so far has been Toby. (Kihanna’s “pervy” stepbrother). He’s AMAZING. I definitely want to do a book from his POV after I finish The Kihanna Saga.
Any tips or tricks for aspiring writers?
Just keep writing. Don’t give up on a story. I always did that. I would write 20k words and start a new story. The key is to stick with your story till the end.
What is your writing atmosphere like?
I currently write on my living room couch. I just moved into a new house, and my office is being painted. Moving in there soon! Can’t wait!
Favorite food ? Broccoli. (Yes, I know I’m weird).
If you were stranded on an island what 5 things would you take? One person= One item! A Kindle that would magically stay charged, my husband… Wait, that’s all I need LOL.
Turtle or Fish?
Fish.
Reading or Writing?
AUGH. No way. Can’t choose :P
Print Books or E-books?
E-books.
Favorite Book Store?
Amazon.
Favorite City in the world?
St. Louis (Home).

 About You Got Me

You Got Me

Roxy is broken
Aiden wants to fix her
No matter how hard Roxy tries to overcome her past, she can't. She writes on her arms to escape the pain, but nothing can soothe the ache that she feels.
Aiden didn't go to college to meet girls, he came to play football. Too bad that it is impossible for him to stay away from Roxy.
After meeting on the roof, they instantly feel connected, but neither of them are ready for love.
You Got Me is a story about new beginnings, and finding love when you least expect it.
