Seventeen-year-old Addison Russell is in for a shock when she discovers that she can see the invisible world of the Annorasi. Suddenly, nothing is as it appears to be -- the house she lives in, the woman who raised her, even the most beautiful boy in town all turn out to be more than what they seem. And when this strange new world forces Addy to answer for a crime that was committed long ago, by parents she has never known, she has no choice but to trust Luc, the mysterious Annorasi who has been sent to protect her. Or so he says . . .
I have three words for this book: I LOVED IT ! Cory Putnam Oaks did a fantastic job writing The Veil. Here is a quick list of what was fantastic about The Veil:
- Unique story, such a different concept it was pure awesome
- Witty humor
- Great Suspense build up, you could not expect anything that was going to happen
- Just the right amount of details. Not an overdose on the details, but you weren't overwhelmed either
- Great characters (Addy was a great female protagonist, Luc - now words for him, Gran- not your typical grandmother, and Nate- sweet, confused, and the amazing best friend)
- Hot Guy ;D
- Nothing is expected
- Ends perfectly, it is an ending that doesn't leave you hanging too much, but you you are left at a point where you are excited for the next book.
That's a basic list of what I loved about the book. To be honest I there is not a single thing that I didn't like about the book. Even the cover fit's the book so well! You might think it's a bit dull at first, but once you read The Veil it fits so perfectly! Now for some gushing....(how I haven't done this in a while)
I have a new boyfriend on my list... Lucas Stratton. He is so...dreamy *sigh*. The eyes, the hair...it's all so perfect! He is that protective bad ass...epic win. And his relationship with Addy was different. It kinda pissed me off, but worked well with the story. They have this whole relationship where they pretend they are together...but aren't. It created this heated tension, which went through the whole book. And that first kiss, was just so sweet. Lucas and his deep green eyes and amazing dark hair was perfect for Addy.
Addy has a very confused life, like her eyes. It was great to watch how she discovered herself. I would say slowly, but no...the book is a really fast paced quick read. The book feels so real, yet it's pure fiction. You could easily imagine the Annorasi world through Addy's eyes, and even Luc's as well. It was so beautiful yet depressing. There is a lot of emotion in the book, but as stated earlier not overwhelming.
Overall I LOVED THIS BOOK! It is easily a 5/5 and I recommend you go get this book now. It is in stores, but the copy I got was a review arc like 3 months ago...yea I am kinda behind. But GO AND READ THIS NOW !!! So Amazing you won't regret it!
