Review of Lola and the Boy Next Door

Lola and the Boy Next Door

The Summary

Budding designer Lola Nolan doesn’t believe in fashion . . . she believes in costume. The more expressive the outfit -- more sparkly, more fun, more wild -- the better. But even though Lola’s style is outrageous, she’s a devoted daughter and friend with some big plans for the future. And everything is pretty perfect (right down to her hot rocker boyfriend) until the dreaded Bell twins, Calliope and Cricket, return to the neighborhood.
When Cricket -- a gifted inventor -- steps out from his twin sister’s shadow and back into Lola’s life, she must finally reconcile a lifetime of feelings for the boy next door.

The Review      After coming back from vacation I found Anna and the French Kiss and Lola and the Boy next Door in my Mailbox, and let me tell you i was super excited :D. So after finishing Anna ( I do have a review up) I ended up reading Lola, which I must say I ended up loving just as much as  Anna and the French Kiss!
If I compare both books i really enjoyed the humor so much more in Anna, but the story In Lola was so much more cuter ( as you can tell from so far, you will see the very girly side of me)...but humor was also really good as well. So overall both had there own pluses (no minuses).
Stephanie Perkins did a great job putting Anna and Etienne in Lola and the Boy next door. Usually in companions the other characters are just there, not a main feature in the book, but In Lola(as i will now refer to it) they were crucial parts in the story ( can't say how or why-can't ruin the book...duhhh ;), but they are). The story was very flowed though Lola she fell for me :(
I love her spunkieness, so when she went through this "mourning period" or like in the book it says she went "goth" I hated that. I love black, but i prefer a character who loves herself for who she is, and doesn't try to change herself for a guy, or change herself because she knows she can't have the guy. I love fashion, and Lola's passion for it was great, Her stlye is more out there than mine, yea i wear genie pants and Indian clothes to school...but that's really it...but Lola if only i was that awesome!
Other than whole romance aspect, I enjoyed the back story there is through the whole book. And the humor was enjoyable as well, especially between Nora, and her Fathers! I loved her fathers and fathers because she has two awesome dad's ! But i didn't like her 'hot' rocker boyfriend in the beginning...he was such a butt! (want to use more crude language but will not)...and in the mention of guys, and we finished talking about Lola....
Let's talk about... CRICKET ! So many would think a guy with that name must be creepy...NO! He is anything but...he is this sweet, sensitive, graceful, inventive, and fashion forward guy attending Berkeley!...and Oh yea he's 6 feet 4 inches...not including his hair (which defies gravity) ! This is my dream guy ! So when hearing the name Cricket, I knew he would be amazing....I am very odd i know, but I found that name so freaking attracting (sorry fan girl again)! So yes, he is not one of my favorite guys in the whole wide world!
So overall I fell head over heels for Cricket,  enjoyed Lola's fashion sense, and of course enjoyed the humor....so I must say Stephanie Perkins did it again...She re-created a great story that was realistic, funny, and well real! (that was redundant). But yes this book definitely deserves a 5/5 on my scale !  And this book comes out in September, so EVERYONE get this ! but read Anna First !!!!!

  1. I just finished devouring, grinning, gushing about Anna and the French Kiss. Well, I'm still gushing after. I call it the St. Clair Syndrome. Hehe. Anyways, I can't wait to read this! Great review!:)
