Impossible by Komal Lewis Blog Tour- Guest Post

Hello there!
Welcome to the next stop for the Impossible Book Tour, hosted by Romantic Maidens Book Tours! Today Komal Lewis, the author if Impossible, is taking over and telling us why she write YA! She was here earlier this week HERE. Keep reading and tell us why YOU love YA.

*For me, YA is who I am. Reading YA allows me to relate to characters who know what I am going through at the moment. I can only semi relate to my peers, but in books it's not the same. Whether it be bullying, love, academics, or stress, there is always a character in some book who knows exactly what I am going through. YA also provides me an escape when I really need one. That is why I love YA :) * - Ishita

What inspires you to write?

This is a great question and one that I hadn’t given much thought to. Most of my ideas do come from my head. I’ll just be sitting around and BAM! I am suddenly hit with an idea, or a character will start talking in my head really loud. So loud, that I’ll have to start writing down their story and hope that I can get to it later on when I have time.

Books are an obvious source of inspiration for me because I’ve been reading my whole life, and you can’t help but be influenced by the things you read. There are certain books that you read as a child that will always stick with you no matter what: The Narnia Chronicles, The Hobbit, The Wind in the Willows, The Faraway Tree, and so many more. These books have taught me to use my imagination to come up with fantastical stories where magic does exist and a girl can overthrow an evil king if she really wants.

Movies and TV shows also inspire me. That’s where I actually got the idea for my debut novel Impossible from (from Drive Me Crazy). Sometimes a character from a movie will stick with you and you’ll want to write a story about a similar character or a similar situation. Movies and TV shows also help with understanding character development, story arcs, and plots that work and don’t work. There’s so much to be inspired by!

Music is an important part of my writing process too. I love the feeling of finding a song that I connect with, but I love it even more if I can find a song that my character connects with. Sometimes I will base an entire story on one song. That’s why listening to music during the writing process is so important for me.

Most importantly, my imagination inspires me to write. I have so many ideas racing around in my head and not nearly enough hours in the day to get them all written down. Those characters in my head and their stories are what inspire me to write.

So those are the things that inspire me. What inspires you to write?

Ashton Summers is on her way to becoming the most popular girl in school and nothing—or no one—is going to stand in her way. Especially not Luca Byron, her freak neighbor, with his tattoos, loud music, and distracting green eyes.
Luca Byron has three goals in life: get through high school with a low profile, make sure his garage band becomes something more than a hobby, and try to forget about his insufferable ex-best friend, Ashton, who he can’t get out of his mind.
The last thing Ashton and Luca want to do is rekindle their friendship, but when Ashton takes a tumble down the social ladder, Luca—with his new makeover—is the only one who can help her rise up again by pretending to be her boyfriend. At first, being together is unbearable and annoying, but things start to change as Ashton and Luca discover the real reasons they drifted apart seven years ago.
Now, keeping their hands off each other seems impossible.
