Review: Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi

Unravel Me (Shatter Me, #2)

it's almost time for war. Juliette has escaped to Omega Point. It is a place for people like her—people with gifts—and it is also the headquarters of the rebel resistance.
She's finally free from The Reestablishment, free from their plan to use her as a weapon, and free to love Adam. But Juliette will never be free from her lethal touch.
Or from Warner, who wants Juliette more than she ever thought possible.
In this exhilarating sequel to Shatter Me, Juliette has to make life-changing decisions between what she wants and what she thinks is right. Decisions that might involve choosing between her heart—and Adam's life.
One word describes this book- ERMAHGERD! Mafi has done is again with an amazing sequel to her debut, Shatter Me!

I was unable to put Unravel Me down. Mafi has a way with words and has the BEST timing when writing her scenes in the book. You will realize the perfection of timing when you see what characters say what, and what characters do what. I would give specific examples, oh how I want to, but the only problem is that will spoil the book. Darn. Well I have one spoiler, so highlight over the next sentence to see what it is. The part when you find out Warren is related to Adam and then how Warren's father comes back. <-that is what I call perfect timing. There is no other way Unravel Me could have been any better.

I fell in love with Warner in Unravel Me. Already #TeamWarner, Unravel Me just made sure I stayed on #TeamWarner. All of you have heard of the infamous Chapter 62; it is even better than you think it is. There are so many feels with that chapter. Just read my Special Someone Saturday Post  this Saturday to see my love for Warner. *Warning: there is a lot of fan girling* Kenji was also bloody brilliant; more hilarious than ever, Kenji made sure you were laughing throughout the novel. He has his serious side but let me tell you, his pick up lines are great, this being a favorite:
“The man is moody as hell.”
“I am not moody—”
“Yeah, bro.” Kenji puts his utensils down. “You are moody. It’s always ‘Shut up, Kenji.’ ‘Go to sleep, Kenji.’ ‘No one wants to see you naked, Kenji.’ When I know for a fact that there are thousands of people who would love to see me naked—”
Or even
“Are you kidding?” I stop in the middle of the kitchen. Spin around. My face is pulled together in disbelief. “You’ve spoken to me maybe once in the two weeks I’ve been here. I hardly even notice you anymore.”
“Okay, hold up,” he says, turning to block my path. “We both know there’s no way you haven’t noticed all of this” — he gestures to himself — “so if you’re trying to play games with me, I should let you know up front that it’s not going to work.”
“What?” I frown. “What are you talking abou—”
“You can’t play hard to get, kid.” He raises an eyebrow. “I can’t even touch you. Takes ‘hard to get’ to a whole new level, if you know what I mean.”
“Oh my God,” I mouth, eyes closed, shaking my head. “You are insane.”
He falls to his knees. “Insane for your sweet, sweet love!”
I mean, come on how can you not love the smartass! Then there is Adam. I felt indifferent about him. Though he and Juliette are together and all "happy-happy-joy-joy" I really don't care about him. He is just there for me, unimportant and meh. It sounds wrong, but it is true. On the other hand there is Juliette, our admirable female protagonist. The minor characters at the Omega point were pretty awesome too, especially the ones with powers :D *wishes she had powers*. Overall the characters make up the story, and as you can see [ from the quotes above] the dialogue in Unravel Me is beyond brilliant.

I thoroughly enjoyed Unravel Me and Tahereh Mafi did a fantastic job! Her writing style kept you captivated and the characters had you mesmerized. All I can say is, get ready to fanboy/girl because there is a lot of reasons to do it! And CHAPTER 62! Overall Unravel Me is for sure a 5/5 in my book; I can not wait for Shatter Me #3!

  1. I just finished reading Shatter Me and Destroy Me. I'm very excited to get to Unravel Me. Destroy Me really softened me towards Warner, so who knows how I'll feel after reading Destroy Me.

  2. I totally agree with you on every point here! #TeamWarner and Kenji hilarity really made the book. I just can't even stand Adam anymore. And like you I couldn't put it down either!
