Review of Hourglass by Myra McEntire

The Summary (Goodreads)

One hour to rewrite the past . . .

For seventeen-year-old Emerson Cole, life is about seeing what isn’t there: swooning Southern Belles; soldiers long forgotten; a haunting jazz trio that vanishes in an instant. Plagued by phantoms since her parents’ death, she just wants the apparitions to stop so she can be normal. She’s tried everything, but the visions keep coming back.

So when her well-meaning brother brings in a consultant from a secretive organization called the Hourglass, Emerson’s willing to try one last cure. But meeting Michael Weaver may not only change her future, it may change her past.

Who is this dark, mysterious, sympathetic guy, barely older than Emerson herself, who seems to believe every crazy word she says? Why does an electric charge seem to run through the room whenever he’s around? And why is he so insistent that he needs her help to prevent a death that never should have happened?
Full of atmosphere, mystery, and romance, Hourglass merges the very best of the paranormal and science-fiction genres in a seductive, remarkable young adult debut.

My Review !

*WARNING*-So before I even begin my review...i must say i read this book right before i left for my College road trip to the NorCal Universities I want to go to...and while on the Campuses is saw tons and tons of Michaels and Kalebs...so sorry if i start gushing over them through out the review :D And there might be minor language....*

So back to the review....

I really enjoyed this book...It was so unique and different! I really enjoyed how it was a mixture of Paranormal, Sci-fi, romance, History, adventure, and every other awesome genre out there! It's like a giant melting pot :D. But any ways, It was different, not your average vampire, werewolf, teenage drama....oh no....it's much more than that! Myra McEntire did an impeccable job mixing together all the different aspects of the book. It was never repetitive, like most novels i have been reading now days. What i really enjoyed was a whole new concept- the concept of Time Travel!!!

So time travel would make a great concept of a book...but if the facts and research is off, the the book wouldn't develop fluidly and not to be harsh...would suck. While reading Hourglass, I could truly tell Myra McEntire had done research, and that too good research because otherwise all the principles and laws mentioned wouldn't have sounded as accurate as they did. But I don't think this book would be as great as it was only with the Sci-fi...the developing romances closed the book together and it evolved it to a masterpiece :D.

This one of the first times i actually thought the main hot guy, wouldn't survive! And let me tell you that is a very depressing thought, do not deprive me of the most romantic charming guys...please. Well any who...I must gush over the characters later first lets talk about Em! I love Emerson....her character...I am not in-love with her. Rarely there are books where the lead female is not in distress....well not in Hourglass. Emerson has such an attitude...I LOVE IT! She is strong willed and is not persuaded or pressured into doing anything. She reminds me of me ;). in the end when I hear her real story, I literally lost it...i felt horrible for her, and amazed that she stayed so strong!

Now like all books so far i have reviewed, now it's time for the long portion of this review dedicated to the Guys ;) . OMFG ! i officially have two new fictional Bf's :D First lets start with Michael: he is you sweet, romantic interest in the novel. The one who thinks about others before himself, the brother, the supporter, and amazingly good looking guy. Michael had me head over heals for him right when Emerson saw him....i had officially deeded he was mine! As the novel progressed, I discovered Kaleb. And Kaleb...well he is that good boy gone bad ;). The flirt, and the heartbreaker...but when he finds who we wants, he becomes as loyal as a puppy dog :). Every time either one was with Emerson, i became emerson and i felt shiver down my back..that is how amazing they are.

While gushing over Kaleb and Michael I didn't expect any twists, like the ones that happened. Because i do not spoil stories, all i will say is that everyone is up for a surprise...nothing can be expected :D muahahaha...lol..sorry for that ;)

This is by far one of my favorite books this year and of all time....I would HAVE to rate it 4.5 or 5 out of 5 stars ! it was just so amazingly different, and refreshing! I can NOT wait till the next book....oh and Everyone out there in the Milky Way Galaxy...go and get a copy of this book now...it is already out in stores !!!! :D
