It's Finally Friday! (2): Interview with Angeline Kace

Hi guys!

This week on It's Finally Friday!, we have Angeline Kace, author of the Vampire Born series and a new NA novel titled Wicked Thing. If you haven't read any of Angeline's books yet, I can personally recommend Descended by Blood (Vampire Born #1). Here's more from Angeline herself!

Zareen: What is your favorite book of all time?
Angeline: Wow, that’s a tough one. Right now, it’s The Edge of Never by JA Redmerski.
Zareen: What was your inspiration to write your book?
Angeline: I started writing the Vampire Born series after I started reading vampire books like crazy, and that was after I read Twilight. So I’d say Twilight. And the Night Huntress series.
Zareen: What is one book you wish you had written?
Angeline: I wish I had written The Fault In Our Stars by John Green. The man is brilliant.
Zareen: Why did you start writing books for young adults? And why this genre?
Angeline: I started with YA because it seemed less intimidating, which is silly because it actually comes less natural for me than say the New Adult I’m writing. And I can see myself being more natural in Adult as well. Writing YA is tough because I really have to think about how I felt at that age. And it was much longer ago than my college years. I dealt with a lot of those formative year problems so long ago. But it’s been so much fun to relive those emotions and experiences through my writing.
I chose paranormal romance because I LOVE it. It was all I read for a loooong time.
Zareen: What makes your book so different from all the books out there?
Angeline: The world of vampires I’ve created is pretty original. But the thing that is the most different from other books is that most books are written so if someone becomes or finds out they’re a vampire, they’re happy with it, which I don’t think most people would be if that actually happened in the real world. So I chose to write from that angle.
Zareen: Are you currently working on anything new? If so can we get a clue on what it is ;D?
Angeline: Yes! I’m working on a New Adult Romance right now. It’s called Wicked Thing, and I am LOVING it! Carmyn is spunky, and Dallas is hot and tattooed and rides a motorcycle. They’re just a lot of fun to put them together and see what happens. :)
Zareen: Who was your favorite character in the whole story? And why?
Angeline: I would say my favorite character I’ve ever written thus far is hands down Mirko. I love the guy! When I created him, I did so with keeping in mind everything I’d ever want in a book boyfriend. And out came Mirko. Sigh. I love him.
Zareen: Any tips or tricks for aspiring writers?
Angeline: Write a lot. And read a lot! And get your hands on Story Engineering by Larry Brooks. It will change your life.
Zareen: What is your writing atmosphere like?
Angeline: I usually write at my desk in my office with a lot of lights turned on, but lately I have been talking my laptop into the living room on the couch, put ear phones in and write late into the evening without tuning on any lights.

Speed Round Questions

Zareen: Favorite food?
Angeline: Chocolate.
Zareen: If you were stranded on an island what 5 things would you take? One person=One item!
Angeline: A knife, flint and something to make fire, some solar panel thing for power, my Kindle, and my laptop.
Zareen: Turtle or Fish?
Angeline: Fish. I can see myself eating a fish easier than a turtle.
Zareen: Reading or Writing?
Angeline: OMG! This is hard! Probably writing so I could have more than one story!
Zareen: Print Books or E-books?
Angeline: Easy, ebooks.
Zareen: Favorite Book Store?
Angeline: Amazon. I hardly go into real book stores, and if I do, it’s just B&N. Amazon has a TON of items, and they deliver to my door. :)
Zareen: Favorite City in the world?
Angeline: I’m not well traveled, so I’ll just go with some place tropical, with a beach. ;)

About the Author

Angeline is a Scorpio living in the Rocky Mountains with her husband and two dogs. She loathed dogs and their "stick to me everywhere" hair until she fell for a pit bull.
She works full time at CPA firm and is going to school to get her Accounting degree. While she's slaving away, trying to figure out why accounts aren't balancing, she's dreaming about books.
She started reading seriously- staying up all night to finish a book and buying every new release she could afford- after finishing Twilight. Say what you want about the series, but it got a lot of people reading, so it's brought more to this world than just sparkly vampires.  She loves all things paranormal, but her favorites are vampires, werewolves, and zombies. In that order.
